Meet Rev Dr David Calhoun
On July 1, 2022, Trinity welcomed our new minister, the Rev. Dr. David Calhoun. For the past thirty-three years he has served in a variety of ministerial settings including churches of various sizes and configurations in Colorado, Nebraska, Maine, and Massachusetts. He has a passion for Evangelism and Outreach Ministries and has worked in both suburban and inner-city ministries, as well as having served as a Chaplain in the United States Air Force.
In 2014 he was appointed by Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar to serve as the District Superintendent of the Connecticut/WesternMassachusetts District and in 2020 he was appointed as the District Superintendent of the newly realigned Seacoast District of the New England Annual Conference. He served as the Secretary of the Cabinet, and as Co-Comptroller for the Cabinet along with Bishop Devadhar. In addition, he served as Cabinet Liaison to the New England Conference Finance and Administration, and as Cabinet Liaison to the New England Conference Board of Trustees. He was elected at the 2019 Annual Conference as a member of the New England Delegation to Jurisdictional Conference.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University in Denver, Colorado; a Master of Divinity degree from the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado; and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.
Other professional certifications include Police Chaplain Certification, and Certification of Advanced Graduate studies in Gerontology, from the University of Nebraska, and he is a published author. In addition, he a recipient of the Bishop Melvin E. Wheatly award for Peace with Justice.
Dr. Calhoun describes himself as a “people person.” He is fond of music from different ages and places and also enjoys interactive worship and preaching. He also enjoys repairing antique clocks, gardening, and working on his antique car.
He is married to Julie Calhoun, and they have five children, five grandchildren, and an English Bulldog named Gordo. Their children Clayton, Skylar, and Zoe are attending college and are pictured below.
